Introducing someone to GTD makes you feel like you have done something worthwhile

by Vaughan Rivett on October 2, 2009

Recently a combination of twitter, friends and Eric Mack (with eProductivity for Lotus Notes) supported me in getting started with GTD (David Allens’ methodology for Getting Things Done). I know that the name “Getting Things Done” sounds rather stupid or even dumb, but this is a system which has been designed so that anyone can work with it.

Anyway, I was talking to a friend at my church about it. He is a project manager and I know that he is always really busy. Yesterday he told me that he had gone out and purchased David Allen’s book and that he was now making it a part of his every day activity. His early reaction was the same as mine “It works”!

This is almost sounding like a Multi-level marketing campaign! Not quite how I wanted to make it sound. Go and search google if you want to know more, or search my blog if that is of any help to you.

Completely agree. I’m about three years in to using GTD and I don’t see why I’d ever go back to the way I used to manage things. It does work and what’s more, if properly applied, it captures everything. It’s liberating to not have your brain constantly thinking “I need to do x” every couple of hours since it’s all tracked in one place.

Rob,
At the same time it does take a bit to get use to. I am going to be putting it to the test like never before in the coming days.
