Recently, I have been making use of a couple of features in my Louts Notes mail file called “Quick Capture” and “Quick Paste”.
Quick Capture is a feature which allows me to highlight a piece of text in a document which I think I might like to use on a semi-regular basis in the future. By clicking on the button, the text is captured, I am asked to give it a title, then it is stored in a database.
Quick Paste is a feature which allows me to recall captured text. All I have to do is position my cursor in a place where I want the text to appear. I then click on the “Quick Paste”. A dialog box then appears on the screen asking me to choose the text which I might like to paste.
My memory is not always the best. I typically don’t remember things that of not of great importance. This would include my phone number and the physical address of the building that I work in. But I always remember my lunch!
As a result, when I need to include my physical address in an email when I am inviting someone to come and see me, I just click on “Quick Paste”, select the item called “Address” and my address is entered into my email.
Most people will not be able to find this option in Lotus Notes. This is because it is provided my Eric Mack’s eProductivity for Lotus Notes which will change the way you use email. I find that this product makes me a lot more productive.
You might like the sound of this idea, or you might even be able to think of some other ideas which you would like to see in Lotus Notes. The good thing is that Lotus Notes provides an easy platform for you to be able add functionality like this.

I am a big fan of these types of productivity tools. I also like scratch pads and being able to store in context information.
Vaughan, I look forward to one of your famous YouTube videos about how you make this work.
Meanwhile, your readers should know that the reference database where you are storing your quick capture/quick paste information is now available free of charge on the eProductivity.com web site.
