It seems to come back quicker than I can lose it. Two years ago I lost over 20kg, however it all came back with another 5kg worth of friends.
Last week I got back out on my bike and did some good rides. I kind of lost my focus towards the middle of the week. Anyway, tonight I went for an hour long ride and hope to do the same at least 5 times this week.
I will post another article after a week to let you know how I get on. I am not in any great hurry, as long as I am losing it, that will be okay.

I tried the two hour long bike rides away from the family. Calories burned, but weight really didn’t come down for me. I’m plan on getting back on the bike again, but this time I’m skipping the long rides. Right behind my house I have a 300 meter climb that stretches out about 10km. My goal this time, to just keep cranking that same route faster and faster. Forget burning calories, I want to seriously sweat the weight off.
To loose weight you really need about a 1 hour ride which is reasonably flat. I try to do the same route about 5 times a week. Also if you have a heart rate monitor you can calculate your aerobic zone. The monitor will keep you within that zone so that you are burning the most fat possible. Hills don’t burn fat and sweat is just water loss.
Hi all,
I have a husband that gave up smoking some 18 months ago and was absolutely paranoid of gaining weight, so took up cycling. He does it for the sole purpose of weight maintenance and hasn’t a competitive bone in his body. I can say – even though he only rides on the weekends, ususally around 80 odd kms, it actually works. He hasn’t lost weight and really can’t afford to – but has toned and tightened (if you know what I mean)!. Diet of course has a lot to play in the weight game. I can recommend some fabulous energy products and boosters for taking before the ride. All natural herb based 100% organic. Send me an email if you are interested.
Keep up the good work on the bike and you will see results in no time.
