I get surprised everyday as I use Lotus Notes with eProductivity

by Vaughan Rivett on June 20, 2010

You cannot imagine how long it took me to give this post a title. How do I really get the attention of people who I would like to tell all about my exciting adventures with eProductivity for Lotus Notes.

I have been working with GTD (David Allen’s “Getting things done” methodology) for a few months now. However, I have recently changed job and I am having to really put GTD to the test.

It would appear that each day presents me a few more surprises. Do you hate it when someone asks where something is at, you say that you have delegated the work to someone else, and then that person doesn’t seem to know about it? It seems to have been happening to me a few times lately.

But this time round things are different. Because I have delegated work to someone else, I have used eProductivity to record an “Action” which shows me that I am waiting for someone else to complete something. Not only that, but eProductivity can link this action to Lotus Notes emails and eProductivity projects.

I am in the habit of recording every action in line with the GTD methodology. I am using a trusted system so my brain doesn’t have to stress about it and keep remembering things that I have to do.

On a number of occasions I have had people deny knowing about requests that I have made. The great thing is that I now have a way of going back over what I have done. I can easily find the request and send it through again to ensure that the action has been completed.

But here is the key thing to it all. I don’t have to worry about where things are at, what I have forgotten etc, it is all in my trusted system. Is it my imagination? But, it is like a lot of stuff just seems to happen automatically.
